4Sync Gets Better Becoming Premium Only
In an attempt to provide even better service for less money, we decided to drop prices while becoming Premium only. It means that now you can store a terabyte of data for just $99 a year. Sounds too good to be true? But it is. A terabyte is enough to store 500 000 pictures from your smartphone and yet it costs much less than a cup of coffee a day.
Focusing on Premium service means that 4Sync will be working far more on its features, quality and will become even more reliable. We will concentrate on those tweaks that make a pretty big difference to help you take full advantage of our service.
On August 13th, 2014 every free account will be upgraded to 1TB Free Trial plan. For two months you will be able to enjoy our Premium service, and afterwards you’ll need to get Premium subscription to continue using 4Sync.
“On August 13th, 2014 every free account will be upgraded to 1TB Free Trial plan.”
I think you mean that “every free account will be downgraded…” because from free to 99 per year cannot be a upgrade.
OK, you are following SugarSync, who, after terminating the free service, are desperately spamming me with discount offers. Such services, without offering space for free, are dead. Rest in peace, 4Sync.
Heiio
I never need more than 15 meg
My regards

buenas tardes.
So, what happens if I put 1TB of stuffs on 4sync after two month, the trial expires? Are those stuffs gonna be there? will I be able to access those?
Dear Aumi, you’ll have the possibility to download files during 60 days before the account deactivation.
Hi,
you have done like SugarSync.
Too bad. I’m sorry to do without you.
We hope to meet again.
Bye
Хороший был сервис. Обарыжничали.
This move is absolute rubbish.
I have recommended 4Sync to many many people that are very happy with 15gig for free. I do not need 1TB to be stored on the cloud. The cost of synco.g that amount of data across all devices would be huge. The amount of data usuage to regain files on the go would be astronomical.
Why anyone would need 1TB of cloud storage is beyond me.
At least leave the people that have their 15GB for free, keep is for free and he add other options with lesser storage.
I can’t believe you will follow suit with others that have now failed.
I primarily use the 4Sync because I love the “SHARE WITH” function where I can upload photos in full file size to share with my family. Now I can no longer do that as it will not pay $99 a year.
I’d be better off getting myself a $49 a year , shared server and store them there.
Shame on you 4Sync! Same on you.
RIP 4Sync
Sorry to hear this. Thank you for your free service. And goog luck guys.
Sorry to hear that. I am moving my files to another service.
With $99/year I can get 1 TB at Dropbox… Do you think your service is better? In what ways?
I moved from Sugarsync to 4sync because Sugarsync did this exact thing. I’ve enjoyed using 4sync, I wouldn’t even mind paying for a low tier storage solution, but by pulling this move and forcing a $99 premium service that is overkill for most purposes (with no alternative offers), I will definitely be moving on without looking back.
I’m a sad panda. 🙁
Right on!
why do you people even give 15Gb free in the first place without keeping it free for life????
if you cannot afford to give space away for free then you should not do so in the first place rather than take that space away after giving it for free for a few months.
What a kind of upgrade?. Do you think that the 4Sync community is so stupid to accept it? Definitly no.
Obviously this was a marketing strategy. At the beginning “4Sync always for free” and now… your account will be “ugraded” and you have to pay!?.
It is a farse the 1 Tbyte argument, because we already know that the space on harddisk are allocated dinamically and you already know that not 1% of the 4Sync user will have 1Tbyte files, therefore the server resources keep like as before (no investion of 4Sync for more additional place in new servers) and you get an excellent argument to drop free users marketing this like as “UPGRADE”.
We trust in you and you drop us.
SHAME ON YOU 4Sync
I starting to buy the Raspberry Pi + OwnCloud (OpenSource) to create my own 4Sync at home.
I understand that you want to earn money. But moving us from free to 1 TB/$99 is too gigantic a step. You should try to offer tiers. Thanks for the free storage, but I’m moving on.
Oh, and the thing about “4Sync always for free” really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Will move to dropbox. 4sync is a good product. Just not worth $99 for me since I use way less than a gig for mostly text files.
Feel like blackmailed and taken for a ride! No thanks!
Unbelievable. Getting rid of the free tier and going only premium is suicide for a company like 4Sync. It’s arrogant to think business will drop the big name cloud storage and jump onto 4Sync. And now you are going to completely abandon the free users that established 4Sync to the point it is now.
It’s not a worry for free users anyway as there is so much competition out there giving away cloud storage, it’s foolish for the average user to pay anything. Even FlickR gives away 1TB storage..doesn’t have to be just pics either.
Good luck starting from scratch trying to get brand new clients to buy premium service because I’d venture to say you will no doubt lose virtually all your free clients even though you seem to think they will simply upgrade…they won’t.
I don’t know who gave you this business advice but I hope you hold them accountable afterwards. Very bad business move.
Good bye 4Sync.
What a pity.
I kind’a liked 4Sync. It worked nice.
Hopefully you will attract enough users that will pay 99$ a year. Sadly, I will not do that.
Please make sure you take my e-mail address of your distribution list, okay?
Bye!
Job
I have a 2 Terabyte Seagate Central Drive. Absolutely no use whatsoever for 1 Terabyte of sharing space, even if you pay me for using it. Ridiculous!!!
R.I.P 4Sync. Everyone should boycott companies who use this type of trickery, and who can trust them now anyway?

Your desktop client has to be seriously improved, like your overall business handling.
I’ve purchased premium for a year, it was a impulsive decision after another usb flash crash. I wanted all my files from a USB flash to be hosted in a cloud. Well, I had to find out there are file count limits by cleaning them out from cloud by hand, since the syncronization of a directory just stopped with an error and even deleting the local directory had no effect. Simulataneously I found out the hosting does my job for me by deleting the files it seems corrupted by a virus. Where are those file count limits posted on a web site, btw?
I’ve backuped my 64g flash to multiarchive and am trying to upload it to the hosting by dropping file links to the 4SYNC directory…
1) first, the windows desktop client sometimes goes INSANELY SLOW on a intel-i5 CPU when trying to upload a **link to directory** with 64 1gb files, and the upload speed somehow goes to somewhere near zero.
2) if I create a real directory in 4SYNC folder and **drop file links** there, all the files linked are finally uploaded… to Cloud Recycle bin, marked as «conflicted by…», and the LNK files are deleted after upload. I do undestand why this is happening (resolving the link, uploading, comparing local and cloud and deleting both files), but hell this is idiotic, since I can not restore files from Cloud Recycle bin to ANYWHERE but the same directory, and immediately — desktop client starts to download 64gb of my recently uploaded files to my HDD, keeps me in sync. (sarcasm) Good job!
I’m NOT goin’ to store the 64gb archive on my HDD just for keeping on the sync, thats what I’m paying for… I know about folder exclusion from sync, but thats a bad decision. What I need is ONE SIDED SYNC, all the files I put to my local folder should upload, and NOTHING without my decision should be downloaded TO my PC or deleted FROM cloud or HDD. Why dont I use web-interface, you say? Because on Google Chrome it manages to be SLOW on files from 1gb in size at least: uploading from desktop client goes to 5megabytes/sec and via web-interface its 500kbps at most…
4sync has been recommended by a guy whose posts I respect, but if I knew this would be such a pain… If you seriously want to compete with big players like Dropbox, Box, Mega or others, lets start doing not only money related changes.
There’s more — fix windows client please. It ENORMOUSLY slows my PC when uploading 4 files @ 1mb/s each. Its not normal. At least add an option to limit simulateneous uploads quantity, not only speed limit.
Dear Dmitriy, thank you for the advice. Our team is working on the issue.
Great inihtsg. Relieved I’m on the same side as you.
